Algebra 1
Instructor: Mr. McElmell

Algebra 1 is a two-semester course. Fundamental topics include the study of expressions, equations and functions, solving linear equations and inequalities, proportions and ratios, graphing relations, polynomials, factoring, quadratic equations, and rational expressions.

Algebra is the study of properties of operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) carried out on sets of numbers. It is a field of mathematics in which symbols, usually letters, are used to stand for numbers. In Algebra 1, students will explore many areas of elementary algebra. This will provide the foundation for future mathematics courses, as well as mathematics used in everyday life. To be successful in this class, students should be prepared to spend about 20 to 30 minutes outside of class for every hour in class.
